Anna Deavere Smith Works gathered artists and Haiti experts to discuss how art can help heal survivors and be part of the reconstruction after the disaster in Haiti. The symposium was moderated by J. Michael Dash, Professor of French at New York University and the author of a number of books on Haiti including Literature and Ideology in Haiti, Haiti and the United States and Culture and Customs of Haiti . The panel included visual artist Vladimir Cybil Charlier, singer and songwriter Pauline Jean, poet and social critic Patrick Sylvain, and painter Didier William.
